Can My Solar System Power It?

Choose an appliance, tell us about your inverter and battery, and we’ll estimate whether the appliance can run with the other loads you use at the same time.

1. What are you trying to find out?

Choose the question that best matches what you want to know. You can change it at any time.

We\’ll check the appliance against your inverter and, when battery information is available, give you an indicative runtime.

2. What do you want to power?

Quick Start Pick a common appliance to get started. You can change the appliance, wattage and usage afterward.
The wattage shown is a planning estimate. For the most accurate result, use the rating on your appliance label or manufacturer\’s specification.

3. Tell us about your solar system

Enter the inverter’s rated kVA. The exact model’s specification is more accurate than a generic estimate.
The checker uses the same planning assumptions as the Inverter Calculator. Check your exact inverter datasheet for its rated output and surge capability.
Optional. Leave at 0 if you only want to check inverter compatibility.
Usable battery energy depends on chemistry and the actual battery specification.

4. What else may be running at the same time?

This matters because an appliance may fit your inverter by itself but overload it when other appliances are running.

Simple explanation

Understand Your Solar System Compatibility Result

This checker helps you decide whether an appliance is likely to fit within the solar system you already have. It considers the appliance, other loads you may run at the same time and the inverter capacity you enter.

Why did the calculator give me this result?

An appliance can fit an inverter by itself but become too much when other appliances are running. Motors and compressors can also need extra power when they start, so the checker treats starting demand as an estimate rather than a guarantee.

Learn the technical details

Running watts describe normal power use. Starting or surge demand is temporary extra power some appliances need. Your appliance nameplate and inverter manufacturer specifications are the best sources for the final decision.

Can My Solar System Power It? — Common Questions

Common questions about checking whether an appliance can run safely with your solar system.

Can I use this checker if I do not know my inverter size?

You need the inverter rating for a meaningful compatibility check. If you do not know it, use the Inverter Calculator first or check the label or specification of your inverter.

Does an appliance’s running wattage tell the whole story?

No. Some appliances, especially motors and compressors, can need extra power when starting. Use the appliance manufacturer’s rating and your inverter’s surge specification for the most accurate check.

Why did you include the other appliances I selected?

Your inverter has to supply the loads that are running at the same time. Checking the new appliance alone can make an overloaded system look safe.

Does passing the inverter check mean the battery will last?

No. Inverter compatibility and battery runtime are different questions. The checker gives an indicative runtime when battery capacity is available, while the Battery Calculator can provide a fuller backup estimate.

Are the appliance wattages exact?

No. The built-in values are planning estimates. Appliance models vary, so use the actual nameplate or manufacturer specification when available.
