How SolarPriceNG Gets and Updates Solar Prices
SolarPriceNG is a Nigerian solar price reference. We show estimated market price ranges to help people compare equipment and plan a solar system. A listed price is a guide, not a seller’s final quote.
The price shown for a product is the range currently recorded in the SolarPriceNG database. It is meant for comparison and planning. The final amount a buyer pays can be different because of seller, location, stock, model variant, exchange-rate changes, shipping, installation and other market factors.
How the database is organised
Products are grouped by solar equipment type so that people can compare like with like. We keep important fields separate, such as panel wattage, inverter capacity, battery voltage, battery Ah and charge-controller current. This helps the database and its calculators use the right unit for each type of equipment.
How we show a price range
When a product has a lower and upper price recorded, the database shows both values rather than pretending there is one exact Nigerian price. This is more useful for a market where the same product can have different prices at different times and from different sellers.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| ₦X – ₦Y | The current lower and upper prices recorded for that product in our database. |
| ₦/W, ₦/kWh, ₦/kVA or ₦/A | A SolarPriceNG calculation used to make products easier to compare when the underlying figures support that calculation. |
| Price last reviewed | The date attached to the price record currently stored for the product. |
Why prices can change
Solar equipment pricing can move because of exchange rates, supply, stock levels, seller pricing, product model changes, shipping and local market conditions. For this reason, SolarPriceNG does not present a database price as a guaranteed quote.
What SolarPriceNG does not do
We do not tell you that one product is automatically the best choice for every person. We also do not treat a product description as a substitute for checking the actual load, system voltage, battery requirements, inverter limits, installation conditions or manufacturer documentation.
How product information is handled
Some product facts may come from information recorded in the database and may be checked during our internal review process. We keep verification status separate internally so an unverified database value is not presented as a confirmed specification.
How we plan to improve price updates
Our longer-term plan is to record individual price observations and build a review process for new price information. When that system is ready, a new price can be reviewed before becoming the current public database value, while the previous value can remain available as history.
Use the database with the calculators
The price database helps you understand the market. The calculators help you estimate what your system may need. Using both gives a better starting point than choosing equipment by price alone.

SolarPriceNG is continuing to improve its price-data collection and review process. When the database gains more observations, history and regional data, this page will be updated to explain those changes.
